ZS6BKW LT
Code: 175Product detailed description
Version LIGHT.
Mounting for hanging behind the centre piece.
We do not recommend hanging by the ends of the arms.
The ZS6BKW antenna, when suspended in the plane at 10m height, has very good radiation patterns compared to a half-wave dipole for a particular band.
On the 3.5 and 7 MHz bands it radiates similarly to a half-wave dipole.
On the upper bands from 14 MHz upwards it is directional.
The 14 MHz band is sharply directional in two lobes and has a gain of about 3 dB over a half-wave dipole at the same height.
The 21 MHz band has 4 radiating lobes, the gain in a lobe is the same as a half-wave dipole at the same height.
The 28 MHz band has 4 main lobes, there are significant minima outside the lobes, the gain in the main lobes is 3dB compared to a half-wave dipole at the same height.
In a small space it can also be compromised by mounting as a curved dipole at 10m above the ground, the horizontal section is 2x7m long, the ends of the radiator then hang vertically down.
On the 3.5 and 7 MHz bands the radiation pattern does not change.
The 14 MHz band radiates similarly to a 1/4 vertical, compared to a dipole it has about 6db less gain than a half wave dipole at the same height.
Better radiation parameters at 14 MHz are obtained by bending 2x10m horizontally and the radiator ends vertically.
The 21 MHz band has a similar radiation pattern to a half-wave dipole at the same height, the gain is 2.5 dB less.
The 28 MHz band has 4 radiation lobes, the gain in a lobe is about 1.5 dB less than a half-wave dipole at the same height.
